Salvia is the deep violet-blue at the back of a summer border, the flower the bees queue for. It is the darkest of our plains, and makes the colours near it look better dressed. On matt linen the depth stays soft, with no sheen and no navy-suit formality. Inside, a duck feather filler, generous and slow to flatten. Made in the UK.

In The Room

The 50cm is the everyday square and works on most sofas. The 60cm suits a deep sofa or the back row on a bed, with more to lean into; the 40 x 60cm rectangle sits in front of either, or alone on a bedroom chair; the 35cm is the small one for the front of an arrangement.

Dark blue is the range's best mixer: against the Ivory Linen, the pair reads like ink on good paper, and under the Broadway Check, it picks up the deepest of the check's three blues and grounds the whole arrangement.
