The Dumbleton Recycled Glass Lamp

Low and rounded, the Dumbleton brings a little glass and colour to a bedside chest or an occasional table beside an armchair. It is the shorter option in this collection, useful where a taller lamp would dominate the space.

We'd give it a small patterned shade beside plain bedding, or keep to pale linen where there is already plenty of colour. The simple glass base leaves either approach room to work.

Lamp height, excluding shade: approximately 29cm.

The finished height depends on the lampshade chosen. On a bedside table, check that there is room for the shade alongside anything you keep within reach.

Materials and making

Glass, cork and brass give the Dumbleton its character. Its rounded body makes a pleasing contrast to the straight edges of a bedside table or small cabinet, without needing extra ornament.

The recycled glass is made in Spain, and then crafted into the lamp with UK-made fittings. Each lamp is wired and assembled in the UK.

Care Instructions

Switch off and unplug the lamp before cleaning, and allow the bulb to cool.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive materials, chemical cleaners and sprays which may damage the finish. Keep moisture away from the bulb holder, electrical fittings and the plug.

Use a bulb that matches the fitting, and do not exceed the maximum wattage stated on the lamp or lampshade.

Choosing your glass colour

Clear lets the shape and your chosen lampshade take the lead.

Olive introduces a rich green. We like it beside warm wood, cream linen and paired with shared greens in a living room.

Smoke gives the arrangement a deeper neutral. A pale shade provides contrast without adding another strong colour.

Petrol Blue makes more of the base itself. Try it with one of our Cornflower Blue lampshades, or repeat a little blue elsewhere in the room.

The Shade We'd Choose

We'd start with the Clear and the 10-inch Forest Green Country Walk Empire Lampshade. The green cottages and hedgerows introduce a small scene above the simple glass base, a combination we'd place beside cream bedding or on a wooden table.

For a plainer finish, choose the 10-inch Broadway Check Pleated Lampshade with a Petrol Blue base. The pleated check fabric adds texture, and the base brings a deep blue.
