The Loden Herringbone is a Shetland wool throw woven at a Yorkshire mill that manages every stage under one roof. The herringbone gives it a depth you feel as much as see, a subtle texture that shifts as the light changes through the day. Rich enough to anchor a sofa, warm enough to pull around you when the evening draws in. Shetland wool is made for living with. It wears in rather than wearing out, softening gradually over years of evenings spent exactly where you are now.

How It's Made

This throw is woven at one of Britain’s last remaining vertical woollen mills, in Yorkshire, a mill that has been producing wool cloth since 1837.

“Vertical” means every stage happens under one roof: raw Shetland wool arrives at the mill, is dyed using closely guarded recipes from a library of over 500 shades, then carded and spun into yarn before being woven on rapier looms.

After weaving, the cloth is scoured using pure water drawn from boreholes 800 feet below the mill, then finished and pressed to bring out the soft, lofty handle you notice the moment you pick it up.

Every inch is inspected three times during production: off the loom, after finishing, and before it leaves the factory. The result is a throw made with a level of consistency and care that can only come from managing every step in one place.
